The North Atlantic: Fearless Creativity
June 3 16:00 — 17:00
The harsh North Atlantic islands – Iceland, Greenland and Faroe Islands – are far away from the meccas of international high fashion. At the same time the islands have something unique to offer designers and artists with their spectacular light and endless wilderness. Designers Bibi Chemnitz from Greenland and duo Guðrún Ludvig and Guðrún Rógvadóttir from Faroe Islands discuss how nature, traditions and the colors and patterns of „home“ shape their work. We will also learn how resourcefullness and fearless creativity has helped building a brand with a distinctive identity and philosophy that speaks to the local and international customer alike. All three speakers are partipants in The Weather Diaries exhibition.
After the lectures Halla Helgadóttir Managing Director of the Icelandic Design Center will lead a discussion about the two brands and take questions from the audience.
Participation is free of charge. No registration needed. The talks will be held in English.
