Semi-staged readings of selected parts from four new Icelandic plays

Reykjavík City Theatre & surroundings
May 22 14:00

Price: 3.500 ISK.

The Icelandic Dramatists Union, the Reykjavík City Theatre and the Reykjavík Arts Festival offer four semi-staged readings of brand new plays by four Icelandic authors at the Reykjavík City Theatre.
The plays were selected from 36 applications and have been developed within the theatre with the assistance of dramaturgs, directors and actors.
The plays differ in content and form: we are led into
a sauna with four Icelandic women in a remote country where terrorism is an underlying threat, we get to know
a young man and his sister who meet after many years apart to settle a horrible deed from the past, a girl and a boy meet at a masquerade party and go on an explosive ride together, while a run-away cat causes an unexpected, tense encounter between two neighbours.
The audience will be led through different locations
at the Reykjavík City Theatre and its surroundings where the different semi-staged readings will take place.
This project is sponsored by the Icelandic Ministry of Education, Science and Culture.
Parts from the following plays will be read:
Seven Women Murdered in a Sauna by Sigurbjörg Þrastardóttir,
directed by Kristín Eysteinsdóttir
Threads by Jóhann Þórsson,
directed by Vigdís Jakobsdóttir
Guests by Hildur Knútsdóttir,
directed by Viðar Eggertsson
Skin Deep by Jón Magnús Arnarsson,
directed by Stefán Jónsson
